Feature #37: Altmetrics

Altmetrics authority Richard P. Hulser, Chief Librarian, Research Library and Archives at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County has kindly offered his peer reviewed paper and recorded presentation as a feature article providing the background for next Tuesday’s #uklibchat.

Presented at VALA2016, Melbourne, in February 2016, it covers the history of altmetrics, why they are important, and outlines their implementation at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.  Reporting data gathered on an ongoing basis shows all the points made are still true today, and in fact are proving to be stronger than initially thought.

The paper is about 16 pages long with references and links to many of those references. The presentation is about 30 minutes long, including some Q&A from the audience. You will need to enter an e-mail address to get access to the paper, slides and presentation.
